"Liz and I, and her sisters, were just coming back from Kew Gardens on Monday, the day after Easter [04/11/04]. We were going back to Nan's flat and passing over the Chiswick bridge when we saw this HUGE barge coming down the Thames river (the tide had to be just right in order to be able to navigate under the many bridges along the Thames through London and out to the sea). What are the chances that we would be there at just the right time? |
"I pulled the car over and parked and ran back up to the bridge with my trusty digital camera and...WOW. Here was the fuselage of a Concorde just sailing past that had been donated to Scotland for a permanent display up there. |
"The wings, rudder and horizontal stabilizer had apparently been sent up another way (possibly rail), but the fuselage is being floated up the east coast of England on its way to Scotland. |
"Quite a sight." -Alan Cirino |
